hello all! So the day after we arrived we got up and went to a lovley river and hung out and had lunch by the side of it. it was very yosemite esque. We were swimming and jumping in etc, lovely! Really good fun and very refreshing. We then planned to go into a local town to do some snack shopping but when we headed down the hill towards the town there was a police road block. We were very puzzled so we asked and he said that there were severe forest fires and even he couldnt get through cos there was loads of equipment in the road. So we headed back up to the house, watched zodiac, a movie based on a true story about a killer that took place in san fran, which kims mum can remember happening so it was pretty interesting... i reccomend it!! Gambling in the US is illegal unless you are over 21 but native americans have some loop hole in the laws which mean they can run casinos for people 18 and up. So last night we headed over to one of the casinos to have a gamble! It was awesome fun. I took 50 dollars cash, on my first black jack table i walked away 80 dollars up, then my second i walked away 30 down!!! Then when we got home we had a game of poker and i lost another 10 bucks, so the night cost me 40 dollars, which is only 20 quid, and i had a completly awesome time, the casino was amazing, i can see why ppl get addicted!! So this morning we got up and made the 5 hour drive back to san jose and kims house, we just arrived now. Tonight lots of kims family are coming over cos she is off to uni on tuea so they are saying fair well. Still having an awesome time, ready for home cos im exhausted, its been 110% non stop for nearly 3 months but its been the most amazing 3 months. Off to LA on tues... another adventure becons. Love to u all. xxxx

Hello T Boy,
Just got back from france (Wednesday). First thing I did when I got back was switch on the computer and catch up with your adventures. I have been having 'blog withdrawal'. Delighted to hear you are still having an "awsome" time. I guess you must be in L.A by now? Have you seen Posh and Becks yet? How is your shedule? Are you still planning to stay with Steve and Galia in N.Y? I think you should give them plenty of notice. It's probably worth dropping them an email-if you haven't allready done so. France was great and very laid back-just what I needed. Didn't do much except eat well (very well infact) and did loads of bike ridding with Rosie on the back (in a baby seat) she loved it! She did "Yee Ha!" everytime we whent down a hill and I went "Oh God" every time we went up one!! Drove over to the opposie coast from where we were staying one day and found ourselves at Utah Beach. That was the beach depicted in 'Saving Private Ryan'. Really interesting-to me anyhow. All the German bunkers and machine gun posts have been left exactly as they were. It's quite moving. Anyhow on the way back we could see this massive building in the distance. It was very old. Pre WW2 and, amazingly for something so big, still standing. We decided we would check it out. As we got closer it's true size became apparant. It was cathedral like and very impressive. At the gate was a hand written sign saying entry 2 euro. I couldn't resist. I've never seen anything like it before. It's like a massive aircraft hanger and it is stood in the middle of no where. Considering that everything in this area was totally flattened, durring the war it's totally baffeling how this thing survived. So, we park the car and get out. Comming from inside this building, and driffting through the wind is this incredible choral singing. We opened the small door and entered this huge empty space ( will send you a pic). Turns out that the building was built in 1911 and was a hanger for a French millitary airship which was used to bomb german sub's off the coast of Normandy in the 1st world war. It is now owned by three "enthusiasts" who are in the process of turning it into a private museum. Like most private museums it was charmingly and fantasticly home made. We had arrived the day before their first visitors were due ( a group of people from England) The owners were "experimenting" with music to find the most "appropriate type". It was this that we had stumbled accross. It was brill! Every time they had to change the music a guy had to get on his bike and ride to the far end of the shed to change the CD. It took him about 5 mins to get there. Anyhow they started to tell us more about the buildings history. Turns out it was used in the second world war by the Germans and the Americans- at different times- to hold POW's. The walls were covered with perfectly preserved chalk drawings which were done by the prisoners. It was an incredible experience looking at these drawings whilst listerning to this amazing choir music in this cathedral like place. I think I have found my next photography project!!!!
Sorry about that. A long story I know. I hope you don't develop a gamberling habbit matey? Remember (to be fartherly for a mo) there is only one winner and it's never you. End of sermon. Who are you staying with in L.A? Is it back to five star treatment or are you both still sleeping in cuboards? Can't wait to see you. I know your mum is suggesting we all get together on the 12th of Sep for a welcome home bash. It would be fantastic but I am in Italy untill the 14th. (sorry Jane. Being the air head that I am I totally forgot that I'am doing a recky trip with Uni for an exchange/project we are doing with our students and students from Millan). Could we do it later?? Rosie has changed so much lately. She has even been speaking French!! She often pretends that she is speaking to you Tom on the phone. I cant imagine what she will be like when she does actully see you again.
Anyroad best go now. Waffled on for far too long. Love you to bits and miss you loads but I don't want to wish your time away. ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXPop's -
